Integration Works – promoting employment and inclusion among immigrants
Integration Works is a development project run by the Integration Services in the Jakobstad region. The project is funded by the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) and the municipalities in the Jakobstad region.
The aim of the project is to support immigrants’ path to work as early as possible.
As a result of the project, immigrants’ opportunities to find work are promoted at an early stage after arriving in Finland. This strengthens the inclusion of immigrants and enables economic independence and social economic sustainability. The great need for labour in the Jakobstad region benefits from immigrants finding their way to employment and work to a greater extent.
The aim of the project is to match the available labour and labour needs more effectively, to reduce the employment gap between Finns and people with a foreign background, to strengthen cooperation with the business community, to clarify the division of roles between different actors, and to develop integration services.
The project’s main target group is immigrants in the five municipalities of the Jakobstad region who are unemployed or available for work. The project’s other main target group is employers and companies. Indirect target groups and partners are municipalities, integration services, the Employment and Economic Development Office, the Jakobstad Region Development Company Concordia, education providers, UNHCR and others.
The project is part of the preparations for 2025, when TE Services will be transferred to the municipality. The objectives of the project are also linked to the comprehensive reform of the Act on the Promotion of Immigrant Integration.
