Swimming for the little ones
Registration for the courses opens on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at 12:00. Once you have registered, you will receive a confirmation email within a few days. There are a limited number of places available, you can be added to the queue if you do not get a place.
At Pietarsaaren swimminghall we arrange babyswim, familyswim and play and splash courses for the little ones. You find more information about the groups down below. We strive to teach children to enjoy the water in a safe way. The main key is to give them habit of water so they will continuously want to lear more and develop. We follow SUH:s recommandations, ruels and standards for babysim.
Babyswim
3 months – 2 years
The baby swim is organized in the activity pool of the Pietarsaaren swimming hall. Baby swimming starts at the earliest at the age of 3 months and the child must weigh at least 5 kg. Baby swimming is a happy playtime for the parents and the child in warm (+33˚) water under the guidance of trained instructors. The child and parents are able to enjoy being in the water together while the child explores the properties of the water with games, songs and exercises. Baby swimming is always on the children’s terms.

Familyswim
3 months – 7 years
Familyswim is a group where one family is welcomed to have 2-4 childer/2 adults. We practice different skills with songs and games in the water that strengthens their physical and mental development.

Play & splash course
2 years – 4 years
The swimming pool also organizes Play & Splash groups for 2-4 year olds together with one parent. We practice making friends with the water in a playful way. The course requires no previous experience. Through song and play, we train water habits, floating on the stomach and back and moving independently in the water. The play & splash course is a continuation of the baby swimming course. When the child is too big for baby swimming but still too small to participate in regular swimming school, the Play & Splash course is perfect!
The Play & Splash course is held before the swimming pool opens to the public. This means that it is calm and quiet in the swimming pool. After the play & splash course, you can continue swimming on your own if you wish.
