1 041 people participated in the questionnaire about participatory budgeting. 58 per cent of them supported the improvement of the beaches in Björnholmen and Killingholmen. This alternative was clearly the most popular in the Gallup, whereby the sports services and the technical services deemed it important to carry out the project immediately. The town of Jakobstad is finishing the work of improving the beaches in Björnholmen and Killingholmen by the end of May.

Improvement of the beach in Björnholmen:

• The vegetation is dug out with an excavator
• The beach is being raked and more sand is brought there
• The two rotten trees close to the beach are removed
• The campfire area is renewed
• A new changing room is brought to the beach
